In 2010 a group of Doncaster based businessmen led by David Plant and Andrew Isaacs came together to form two football teams that would compete for the very first Doncaster Business Cup to be played at the Keepmoat Stadium. The original event was formed to help David Plant of Moirae Creative Agency raise £5,000 to contribute to a larger fundraising target of £50,000, which he helped raise with Doncaster Rovers as part of the ‘Rovers Inca Trek’ in 2010.
Their purpose was two fold in that not only had they devised a unique way to raise money for local charities and causes but also they would provide those who took part with the opportunity to realise their boyhood dreams of one day playing at the home of their local football club, Doncaster Rovers.
The success of this event has inspired us to do more for our local charities and the community at large and to this end we set to work on devising new and innovative ways in which we could achieve this. There exists a true generosity and spirit within Doncaster businesses to help good causes and to properly discharge their corporate social responsibility duties, whilst at the same time having fun.
This has led to the formation of Doncaster Business For The Community (DB4C).
